Afghani, Northern Lights and Skunk #1 were crossed three times to create the Big Bud Strain, an Indica marijuana strain. This variety is renowned for producing enormous yields. It has an 85% Indica-dominant genetic makeup, and the sedative, all-over high, is very pronounced. Big Bud Strain continues to thrive and is again well-liked in the United States. In 1989, the strain took home the top honors in the “Mostly Indica” category of the second High Times Cannabis Cup. Big Bud has THC content that ranges from 15% to 20%.
Given that she is Indica-dominant, Big Bud Strain produces a body high. She inherited all the amazing qualities of an Indica from her parents, including huge yields, powerful effects, and delicious flavor and scent combinations. Because of the medium range of her THC level, you can get high from her without becoming couch-locked.
The classic Indica high and heavy body stone of the Big Bud strain. It may take several minutes for it to start affecting the user. Users primarily describe a disorienting foggy feeling rather than mental stimulation. Big Bud may also cause psychedelic side effects like time dilation and visual distortions. This couchlock-inducing haze is ideal for relaxing pursuits like binge-watching TV shows or listening to your favorite music. The relaxation brought on by the strain also has certain health advantages. Big Bud’s psychoactive properties benefit those who have trouble falling asleep because they can cause deep, restful sleep that may even leave users feeling sluggish and confused the next morning.
From any perspective, cured flowers are enormous. Even when packaged in modest amounts for sale, the chunky buds stick together in big chunks because they are so sticky. The spring green buds have fewer pistils than usual but a lot of silver-white trichomes that give the buds an almost moist appearance. These buds are highly sticky and frequently challenging to break apart by hand due to the high trichome count. The scent of the buds is equally strong, predominately dank and earthy, with a hint of fruitiness. The Haze parent strain also contributes some herbal spice. Big Bud and the well-known hybrid Jack Herer have a genetic background with parents from the Haze and Skunk families. Big Bud’s smooth Indica smoke leaves a lingering sweet taste behind.
This simplifies cultivation because it is improbable that the seeds would grow in male plants. As their name implies, they are most famous for their enormous buds, which normally develop around the stem’s center and are heavy and dense. The branches frequently break from their weight, although tension wire or other forms of support can prevent this. Big Bud Strain plants can reach heights of up to 7 feet, matching their enormous blossoms. As a result, it can be cultivated outside, but only in regions with variable temperatures and steady sunlight.
This strain can be grown indoors. However, due to its height, trimming and bending during the vegetative stage are necessary to promote more horizontal than vertical development. Big Bud is ideal for the SOG (Sea of Green) system since most of its yield develops on the center stem. The plants are adaptable and can be trained to assume any position. SCROG (Screen of Green) is also useful; supercropping and lollipopping work nicely with this strain.
In warmer locations with longer summers, this strain thrives. Ideal locations include the Mediterranean. The plants can also be grown inside or in a greenhouse. Big Bud Strain is a wonderful choice for individuals who prefer speedy results because of its relatively short flowering period (about 50 to 65 days). The ideal harvesting period for outdoor crops is mid to late October. The key selling feature of the strain is its impressive yields, which are produced by these resin-coated buds. Users might anticipate between 500 and 600 grams per square meter when cultivated indoors. Growers may have an even greater yield outside, averaging between 800 and 1200 grams per plant. It matures relatively quickly for an Indica, approximately 7 to 8 weeks.
85% of Big Bud Feminized is Indica. This indicates that the high results are potent, soothing, and calming. In addition, some users feel happy and euphoric after taking it, which may be related to the strain’s 15% Sativa genetics.
Growing indoors, growers should anticipate between 500 and 600 grams per square meter. When cultivated outside, experience a greater yield of 800 to 1200 grams per plant.
Big Bud isn’t advised for active daytime use or tasks that call for some level of concentration due to the dizzy high it produces. It suits social interaction in quieter, more private settings and solo enjoyment.

David –
The plant is quite tall (over 6′) but the structure is weak and the buds are tiny. I’ve harvested a couple of other CK plants so far this season (7 strains this season) and the Purple Gelato yield was MASSIVE and the Dutch Treat also great but Big Bud is a disappointment. I haven’t chopped the Big Bud yet but had to salvage several branches that were broken by heavy rain. It’s not even close to harvest ready but smells amazing..

I yielded of 18 ounces with 7 plants on my first ever grow. Buds were huge and dried and cured into some of the best flower around. I highly recommend this strain. Makes excellent tincture as well, that gives an incredible body high.
